I am not sure exclusive checkout will help. I mean trying to checking out exclusively again. But it is possible that the lock is because of an exclusive checkout. Can you go to the DTR webui (not the dtr perspective in nwds), look up what activities you have using the activity search report and if the state of the activity is still open (of the one that is related to that visual composer model) then you can revert the activity from there.
