cost of material GL and cost center

Hi,

In GL account group OBD4, it has account group cogs.

Notice that GL in this group, when posting, no cost center needed but only profit center.

GL for this group is cost of materials, freight or scrap.

So from costing stand point, why cost center is not needed but only profit center?
